Roeurn Lihor is a student who received a scholarship from the Cambodian Education and Development Organization (CEDO). In 2021, he began studying Agricultural Production and Marketing at university, and he successfully graduated in June 2025. Lihor comes from a rural community in Siem Reap Province, located around 70 kilometers from the city center. He grew up in a poor farming family together with his sister, who had to stop studying in Grade 10 because of financial difficulties. His parents are farmers with only a small piece of land for growing rice. In some years, the harvest is not enough to support the family. To earn additional income, they also raise chickens, ducks, and pigs at home. However, they often face challenges because some animals die from diseases or from a lack of proper knowledge and training in animal care. After finishing high school, Lihor could not continue to university immediately because his family could not afford the tuition fees and living expenses. Instead, he decided to work as a laborer on a sugar farm far away from his hometown in order to support himself and his family. At the end of 2020, Lihor received information about the scholarship program offered by CEDO. This became a life-changing opportunity for him to continue his higher education, and he was highly motivated to apply. Fortunately, he was selected to receive the scholarship and started his university studies in Agriculture in 2021. From Year 1 to Year 4, Lihor studied very hard and consistently achieved outstanding academic performance. Besides his classroom studies, he spent much of his time practicing vegetable cultivation on land provided by the school. He also joined extra training courses at vocational training centers to improve his technical skills in vegetable growing and modern agricultural techniques. In June 2025, Lihor proudly graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Production and Marketing. Thanks to his strong practical experience and commitment, several agricultural companies offered him employment opportunities after graduation. Currently, Lihor is working for a local farming company that focuses on rice and vegetable production. He is responsible for technical agricultural work and applies the knowledge and skills he gained during his studies to support local farming development. His journey is a meaningful example of how education and opportunity can transform the life of a young person from a disadvantaged rural background.
